30th Year Mural Reflection, Restoration, Resurgence

Dear Friend:

Eliseo Art Silva asked me to help gather community members to take a group photo in front of the mural on Saturday, August 24, 2024.

In 1994, Eliseo was commissioned by SPARC (Social and Public Art Resource Center) to create Gintong Kasaysayan, Gintong Pamana (Filipino Americans:  A Glorious History, A Golden Legacy), the nation’s largest Filipino American mural.

Come celebrate the mural reaching a three-decade milestone and engage in a dialogue with the artist reflecting on the mural’s impact in Historic Filipinotown and its future.

This summer, special thanks to a grant awarded by the City of Los Angeles Cultural Affairs Department, Eliseo will work on a full restoration and update to the mural.

Join a community group photo before restoration work begins. Please share the flyer with others within your community network and feel free to post on social media.
