UCLA Samahang Pilipino

Samahang Pilipino welcome all students, whether you are Pilipinx, or simply want to learn more about the culture! You do not need to speak the language, or have any background at all, we just want to create a space for students to come and discuss about Pilipinx culture and find a smaller community in a big school. There are 5 entities of Samahang Pilipino. SP Education and Retention (SPEAR) emphasizes the retention of students at UCLA, offering peer counseling services and mentorship. SP Advancing Community Empowerment (SPACE) goes to local high schools and community colleges to give academic and college advising, as well as offering a 4 unit upper division student internship. Kabalikat Kore (KK) is the gender and sexuality component of SP, offering a safe space for those in the LGBTQ+ community as well as allies to discuss the intersectionality of being apart of multiple marginalized communities. SP Cultural Night (SPCN) is a one night performance in Royce Hall that allows members to explore cultural dances, singing, and acting! No prior arts experience required. Finally SP Board hosts general meetings and socials for members to engage in and meet people on a consistent basis!
